Cute Pumpkin Place Cards

While visiting with my mother-in-law about Thanksgiving dinner I volunteered to make the place cards for the table. She mentioned that she may use a pumpkin themed centerpiece and I instantly had several ideas in my head. I thought about making regular place cards from antiqued paper and pinning them to a mini pumpkin but quickly realized, that isn't what I do! I make sweet crafts from paper (for the most part) and had seen an idea while researching wedding decor in September..this is my spin on the idea that I had seen.

It's so easy anyone can make these and they would make not only great place cards but fun favors as well!
To get started you will need:
-Paper in orange and green
-Ruler
-Paper Cutter
-Pencil
-Pipe Cleaners
-Hole punch, I used a 1/8" diameter

To get started measure, mark and cut 13 5"x3/4" strips of orange paper. Punch a hole at both ends about 1/4" from the end. Then lay on top of each other aligning holes and thread through pipe cleaner. Make a small loop or knot at the end of the pipe cleaner, this will be the bottom of your punkin. Thread long end of pipe cleaner through the holes on the other end of the stack. It will be shaped like a 'U'.

Create another loop at that end to insure it keeps its shape.
Cut out a couple leafs from your green paper. I free handed mine but you could use a leaf stamp too.

Thread the leaves onto the pipe cleaner. Wrap pipe cleaner around pencil to create curls. Then fan out the strips to make the pumpkin. Then sit back and enjoy the cute pumpkin you've created!

Once again I hope you've enjoyed this sweet little craft created at my kitchen table!
